Today's entertainment

Kellen came home from school today talking about the big trucks up the road. I thought he meant out on the main road, but it was on our street, just farther down the hill. He said a friend thought they must be demolishing another friend's house.  Boys.
Anyway, before long, the trucks started up the hill. The kids were out in their yards watching all the excitement.

Here comes another one! I can smell it!!!

Some of them ended up in our yard, catching grasshoppers and testing how smart they were  (whether they'd jump off the side, go down the steps, or jump into the ivy- the not-smart choice, by the way).
A couple boys came up on their bikes, so Kellen and Aislinn got theirs out for a bit, too. Aislinn started down the driveway and couldn't get stopped, so she ended up taking a tumble and scraping her knee. After getting her cleaned up, I took her out to teach her how to use her brakes. She really didn't want to get back on her bike, but we made it. As we started up the road, I tried to show her what to do. She said, "That's what Daddy told me to do." Apparently she actually had learned how her brakes work. Too bad she didn't do it!
After supper, we went to the truck yard. Aislinn wanted to walk up and down the fence to look at the trucks. What a hoot.
